WatchRoom Companion Browser Extension

The optional WatchRoom Companion extension connects an authenticated Social Room to a video playing in another browser tab. To support different streaming sites, the extension requests access to HTTP and HTTPS pages. It remains inactive until a browser-accessible video element is detected.

• It reads only the page title and browser-exposed playback state: play/pause, current position, and duration.
• It does not read page text, passwords, payment information, browsing history, media bytes, DRM keys, or protected stream URLs.
• Room bindings and high-entropy connection nonces are stored in browser session storage and are removed when the browser session ends.
• WatchRoom bearer tokens, passwords, and room-access credentials remain in the WatchRoom web application and are not copied into extension storage.
• A short-lived, room-scoped LiveKit credential is held only in extension memory while a party is active. It is never written to local, synchronized, or session extension storage.
• When you explicitly enable them, camera and microphone streams plus live party chat are transmitted through WatchRoom's LiveKit service to the other participants in that room. The extension does not record those streams.
• Playback state, live chat, and participant media are used only to provide the Social Room selected by the user and are not sold or used for advertising.

Users can disable or remove the extension at any time through their browser's extension settings.

Data Security

We implement appropriate security measures to protect your information. However, no method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure. We encourage you to use strong passwords and protect your account credentials.
